Lidérc is a band which dwells in the dark corners of the Hungarian underground. It’s been hiding there until recently, when it has reared its ugly head from the shadows, with the release of their S/T debut material. Towards the end of August, the same promo came out as a self released tape, limited to 30 copies, used to promote the band’s first live appearance at BFBMK-Hellfest 2021.
With a total duration of 10 minutes, this 2 track promo is a short, albeit violent glimpse of the band’s universe. The songs are fast paced, with a melodic and somehow “rural” feeling emanating from the music. But do not be mistaken: this has nothing to do with folk music.
This is raw black metal, with harsh vocals, great ice cold riffs (and solos) and insane drumming, all enveloped in a mystic and delirious atmosphere. The main riff is really haunting and obsessive, as it connects the two songs by a thin, yet invisible thread. The Hungarian lyrics and the simple cover add more mystery to this chaotic universe, undoubtedly showing that this material is the Devil’s music.
Even if a bit too short (in my opinion, that is), this promo is one of the best debut materials I’ve ever listened to. This is the exact type of black metal I am looking for and I really hope the band will come up with their full length very soon. Total support!!
